We took our first Metro trip on the yellow line straight to the Arc. We were a bit early so we walked around, talked to a volunteer who gave us swatches of fabric. We then got in line and got inside. They did not ask us if we wanted to take the lift, I guess we are too young for that. 284 steps later we all agreed that we would certainly have taken the elevator if we had been given the choice. The fabric was a grey / blue woven fabric made of tarp material. I has an iridescent feel as the blue often comes through the grey. The wind caused it to puff up here and there and the colors shifted as that happened. We made it all the way to the top and got a fine view of Paris and its surroundings.
