After lunch and before our wine tasting we took the metro to the Louvre Rivili Station and then did a bit of a walkabout. We had a rough idea of where we were going but did not strictly adhere to the path the google was giving us. This took us by, Les Halles, a big mall that we zipped in and then back out. We also went by several cool Cafes and gigantic buildings. Then we went to the wine event. It is located in the cellars that Luis 14 built to store his wine. Louis also built a tunnel that went right to the Louvre which was the royal palace at the time. We had a bit of a mix up with the tickets. We purchased tickets but it is also part of the Paris Pass. They were kind enough to give us the cost of the tickets as a voucher that we could use to buy wine. Win Win Wine!
We were imagining a farmers market type of set up
Lovely architecture
Big art on the floor
Open spans
But it turns out that it is just a mall
So we were in one door and out the next
Yes this is more like it
We are at the Le Cave de Louvre
Lots of artifacts to look at and learn from
Made from real spleen extract
Who who is looking in my crotch
Foxy va-jay jay
Actual Grape Vines with sample soils different foor each region
This was from the champagne region with chalk on the bottom
Lots of thought was put into the decorating
French Wines are very simple as this chart demonstrates
We loved this area
The wine regions
Yes I will have some wine
This is a very expensive brand
Even more expensive
The area of the wine cellars we went through is but a small fraction of the total original area
A lesson on bottle size
The cork tree
It takes 20 years for a cork oak to grow big enough to harvest cork. It will take another ten years before it is ready to harvest again
I'm not that lucky!
