11 December 2021Santiago Chile: A walk around Las Condes

Las Condes is a cool neighborhood with lots of restaurants, public art, a performing arts center,
and a dog park that we have walked to every day that we have been here.  Today was no exception.  We walked the five blocks to the dog park watching multiple pooches along the way.  When we got there it was devoid of dogs!  Saturday is an odd day here.  Over half the restaurants were closed and the sidewalks were substantially less crowded.  It may be pandemic related or cultural but we did not expect it.  We did see a christening going on at a church we passed and a group of 40 or so folks practicing some sort of dance.  As we looped back we saw more dogs and stopped in a park / playground.  The kids were funny to watch and we saw an organ grinder.  Also we saw a big bird cage in the park with a plethora of budgies and cockatiels in it.  All in all a fine walk for a Saturday evening.
