12 December 2021 Santiago Chile: Plaza de Armas

Sunday is always a busy day at the Plaza de Armas.  There is the cathedral, the sidewalk market that stretches for several blocks and entertainers.  We saw a pan flute playing man in full indigenous garb as well as a pink haired punk band.  The whole range of humanity was out on this fine Sunday afternoon.  Uber has been the easiest way of getting around and I really like that the price and destination is predetermined.  We got on the app and then were in the old town lickity split.  We walked the full length of the sidewalk market and then detoured over two blocks and started heading back.  They were setting up stalls for a big Christmas market that begins tomorrow.  There were at least two full blocks of stalls set up and ready for vendors.  When we got back to the Plaza we stopped for lunch at a Japanese place.  then it was time to head to the Sculpture Garden.

Another vendor pulling up his stuff, but no police today

The market goes on for 7 or 8 blocks

The Cathedral was all boarded up on Wednesday

But the opened up one panel for church services today

He was quite good on the flute

180 degrees opposite musically speaking is this Punk band

The largest flag I have ever seen is 88.5 feet long and 60 feet tall!

Some of the nicest buildings we saw

Great street are on this pedestrian tunnel.  The Christmas market stalls start at the end of the tunnel.
