We were early so we could not get into our room yet. No problem, we will see the sloth reserve, orchid nursery, butterfly garden, poison frogs and then have some lunch. The sloths are all rescue animals and spend as little as a day or two or as long as a few months, They have also rehabilitated anteaters and armadillos at this facility.
A set of large crane sculptures in the lobby
A water feature that fills the space with the sound of running water
Large windows looking out to the pool area
The pool, Lake Gatuin that connects to the Panama Canal
Lush greenery into the distance
The pool area is quite large
Nice light fixture
We may be seeing bees in the AC soon
Lots of windows all around
Very tall ceilings
Our driver awaits
The sloths have branches to practice climbing and to build up their muscles
Hanging out
Or laying about
Two toes in front
Cute nose
brilliant red dragonfly
A serene look in the eyes
If you see this Giant Sloth, you have traveled back in time
This is the gal that works with the baby sloths
Time to eat
A turtle in rehab
A wild Toucan
with an impressive beak
Flowering bromeliad
Ant nest
A riot of flowering plants
I got lucky with a few butterfly pictures
Berries
The blue morpho butterflies were the hardest to get a picture of
but were a brilliant blue
Orange, black and yellow
Morpho flying by
A gecko off to the side looking for a meal
A rare masked blue wing
and the male giant masked blue wing
An egret looking for a meal
Into the orchid garden we go
Rows of orchids
Some in bloom
A large lady slipper
Showy and frilly
Tiny blooms
Such variety
We love orchids
The roof of the frog enclosure is covered in these pink flowers
All the frogs are small
Between one inch and two inches
All are deadly
But cute in their own way
So much fun
