What a magical place! We arrived on a warm day with little wind. All the staff remarked on how exceptional the weather was. They say there are three or four days this nice all year long. We like to think we are bringing the sunshine with us. First thing they did is serve us a tasty lunch. Local meats included the guanaco, a cousin of the llama. The dining room looks out over the lake and the mountains and the food was top notch tasty. We had time for am excursion and I chose to take the condor hike. It is named for a condor nest that is located along the way. Leslie chose not to hike and she explored the Explora, most notably the pool and spa area. Smart cookie she is indeed.
Nestled nicely in its surroundings
The entryway to the hotel
The door to our room and the hallway
Our view!
A view so big, it requires two pictures
Part of the welcoming committee is a visit from an Andean Fox. It was 10 feet from our window and trotting down a pedestrian walkway. It was a female and she shooed off a pair of people from the walkway. This was most likely protective behavior as she has a den with kits in it under the hotel.
A set of serious rapids
The lake is calm and crazy blue
The boats that the hotel has
Rabbit appetizer
A filet of Guanaco and mushroom with barley, looks like I am adding to my carnivore list anyway
They provide a plethora of additional information and maps to delve deeper into the flora, fauna, geography and all things Patagonia
Leslie is off to the outdoor lakeside Jacuzzi at the spa
I headed back to the hotel to meet up with my hiking group
The lakes are connected by rivers that are very fast flowing
Whoosh!
