18 December 2021 Torres del Paine: A Fun but Messy Dinner

At 6:30 all the new guests convened for an orientation.  We got the low down on the terrain via a series of maps and a quick lecture. Then we were told how to book excursions which was pretty easy, we just sit with one of the guides who asks us what we like and then helps us pick suitable excursions for the following day.  They do not plan put any further than the next day as the weather is a big factor in what can and can't be done.  As we were sitting with our guide, the woman sitting nearby interjected with some advice.  Her name was Bret and she got us laughing right away.  Her husband is named Jarvis and we all hit it off.  They offered advice on excursions that they liked and before you know it we started talking travel.  They had just been to Antarctica on a cruise and we had a mullion questions.  Jarvis is a recently retired Orthopedic surgeon that had been an engineer prior to that.  Brett told us about taking the course to become a certified travel agent and all the effort it took plus the rewards.  We kept on the conversation into the dining room and sat down to eat.  At one point Jarvis knocked over his wine and half the glass spilled over towards Leslie.  That got everyone's attention but immediately Bret reached over to grab the glass and proceeded to knock over her own glass.  Wine was flying in every direction and it got on the table, the wall and a tiny bit on my already red shirt.  That is the reason I wear red shirts.  We all got to laughing so hard that the folks in the dining room all took notice.  What grand fun!

A little here

A little there

Not much left in Bret's glass.  Jarvis (not pictured due to the chaos) was in the same empty glass situation.  Is it half full or mostly spilled?
