La Sebastiana

La sebastiana is the home of the late Pablo Neruda in Valparaiso Chile. Our guide came and picked us up and had intended to stop at a winery for wine tasting. However wine at 10 a.m. is a little too much as we found out the previoulsy. So we rearranged it and went straight to Valparaiso. This was the first stop and, although we did not know about it ahead of time, we are very happy that he stopped there. It was a very interesting home loaded with many many different oddities. The author and poet was a collector at heart. He had a wide variety of interesting items that I was not allowed to photograph. However I was able to take pictures from inside the house to the outside and these are what I present to you.
Here is the house from the outside. It's five levels and although appears large it's rather quite small on the inside. I had a difficult time maneuvering on more than one occasion.

The fancy sign at the entrance

The flower of aloe plants.

It's a bit cloudy but we got a pretty decent selfie
This reminds me of my mom's love for Blue Glass items
He loved all things nautical and collected these portholes and use them in his building

Valparaiso is chaotic and colorful
