12 October 2021 a drive along the Danube River

Rather than take the highway all the way to Vienna, Leslie plotted several roads that follow the course of the Danube.  Since it was on and off raining, the highway would have been a stress machine.  So instead we had a delightful ride along the river.  We saw several river boats cruising, barges motoring, cyclists galore and  many many small bergs along the way.  We drove the Romantic Road of Austria for a small section of it and maybe we will pick up a few more sections as this trip continues.   Off to Vienna we go!

The crazy intense color of this crop is amazing.  Leslie is taking some great pictures on the fly!

Rock slides must be cleared

We even saw an Emerald Riverways boat like the one we went on on 2017

A tidy and timely WC

The Danube had a greenish tint to it

The fall colors are emerging so that makes us the Leip Leaf Peepers

We were amazed at how calm the water was.  Just down river was a lock and dam so the water had backed up.

One of many grand estates

A train trestles

The hills are alive!

Driving the great romantic road

So much better than the highway

Colors and clocks

We turned off the great romantic road at Melk.  Here is the Melk Abbey

A fine day along the Danube
