After getting out of Graz in the morning we had a smooth ride right up to the Slovakia Border. I did not realize that we were driving through Slovenia to get to Croatia. If I had I would have purchased the sticker for the tolls. The border looked like a toll booth more than a border crossing and before we knew it we passed on through. We agreed to stop at the first service area and purchase the sticker but there was a checkpoint before we were able to get the sticker. The police man asked for my pass poer, my registration and my Florida license. He pointed out that we passed the border without our sticker and I said that we were trying to get over but were blocked by trucks. Luckily we had stickers for Switzerland and for Austria so he let us go with a stern WARNING and told us that we could buy a sticker in just 1000 meters! So that is exactly what we did. Then it was smooth sailing again till we hit the other Slovenia border. We have been spoiled by travel within the EU which is seamless. SO Leslie and I were both scrambling to get out our passports for a stamp. We passed through and it was smooth sailing for 500 meters when we had to stop again and get our passports stamped by Croatian officials. Then it was smooth sailing until we were in the thick of Zagreb traffic and the GPS on he phone dropped out. It may have been the pocket wifi cutting out or Leslies phone cutting out or both due to switching providers in a different country Either way it was an eventful drive. After all that we drove right up to the Le Premier Hotel and parked right in front! We checked into our exquisite room and then went on a walk about.
Our new best friend from Slovenia, the toll sticker
The road was eerily empty
But still very beautiful
Jam packed cemeteries
Empty malls
Empty tunnels
More empty roads
Lots of farmland
More crowded cemeteries
View out our window
Big tall ceilings
Nice beds
Large comfy furniture
Seating area is ample and roomy
Lobby is eleagnt
Front door parking can't be beat
We found out where all the Croatians are!
