23 October 2021 Salzburg Tortes and Tunes

After the cemetery we were happy to be alive and hungry.  Nothing reinforces that feeling better than a chocolate torte from the Café Bazar.  It was quite busy and we were lucky to get a window table.  There was an eclectic mix of folks in the café; an older guy reading his newspaper, four teenage girls sitting and giggling the entire time, two gals meeting on a Saturday afternoon and a pair of couples squeezed into a two top.  So many life stories to invent.  We walked back to the hotel and got ready for the concert.  First we went to the bar for Gin and Tonics from Viola and a Cesar salad for dinner.  Then off to the concert we go.  It was a 20 minute walk to the show .  It was already dark and the temps were dropping.  We booked a fine concert of Mozart and Vivaldi at the Mirabelle Palace's Marble Room.  The concert had 6 musicians three violins, a harpsichord a bass and a cello.  These six played the Mozart pieces and a guest violinist came out for Vivaldi's Four Seasons.  The Greek soloist Dimitris Karakantas was a whirlwind of energy.   Dimitris and the other musicians all played on period instruments.  The concert lasted two hours and we started back at a little after 10 PM.  We did the walk in less than the 20 minutes it took us to get there.  This was partly due to the 36 degree temperature motivating us to hoof it.

Lots of cafe folks
