We had very high expectations of how beautiful Lake Bled would be. However it surpassed all of those expectations! First the lake is surrounded by snow capped mountains. The castle is perched on a huge rock slab overlooking the lake. Then the town of Bled is nestled right up to the edge of the water and Lastly there is a church out on an island in the lake. This place is very special, We had booked a different hotel which is not open and we were told via email that they had rebooked us into a different place. We investigated the new place and liked what we saw. We liked it even more when they said that the would give us a free upgrade to the top floor apartment. What a great upgrade it was! We wowed over the room for a bit and then took a walk down by the lake. There were ducks, swans, fisherfolk, drinkers in the cafes and lots of dogs. The water is super clear and the lake is relatively calm due to the encircling mountains.
