Swedish Air Force Museum

Jan arranged for us all to have lunch at the cafe at the airport Museum this was a delightful place and the food was top notch. I had a wild boar burger with gravy and mashed potatoes. Leslie had a big shrimp sandwich with all kinds of layers of goodness. There's a wide variety of aircraft most that I had never seen before as well as displays on preparedness for Swedes during the Cold War. They had anti aircraft missiles for very high altitude planes. They also had a DC-3 that was shot down in 1957 with eight crew on board. It was doing reconnaissance for the Swedes on the Russians.  The Russians shot it down killing all 8. It was 300 feet below the water of the Baltic Sea when they found it in 2003.  They decided to recover it to try and retrieve the bodies. The wife of the pilot is still alive and she waited forever never knowing what happened to her husband. They found him and his wedding ring and she finally got closure when they buried him at a ceremony. The ring is on display at the museum as well as the wreckage of the plane.

I thought this was brilliant. This is a station where you scoop your compostable food into one area stack your dishes up and it minimizes the extra effort that the restaurant has to go to to clean up
