Farewell to Russia

The ship sailed at 4:00pm.  I got a tune up on my toes and then joined Leslie to watch our departure.  We had a couple tugboats get us through the narrowest of spots, and then we motored on through a narrow channel. On the left St Petersburg itself but on the right was semi abandoned areas. A long section that was like a barrier Island ran along the right. Several people were fishing some were possibly squatting and then eventually they became a series of stand-alone Islands.  We motored along for another hour and finally got to a area where there were earthwork dikes built up into the Bay of Finland. This allowed for a single entry point into an out of the water leading to St. Petersburg. Here we saw another small town and several military ships

Four countries already gone six toes remain

Large Bridge on the Neva River

This is the bridge we drove on while taking the bus back from Catherine's Palace

It curves along and is very high its entire length

An abandoned building

Fishing for dinner

The long uninhabited section on the right of the boat

The gazprom building in the distance

We saw this is zodiac going at a high rate of speed out in the river and then we didn't see where it went. It wasn't until we got closer we could see they landed and had a very large white dog with them

A submarine which is right by where our ship was docked

Collecting wildflowers?

Our tugboat escort

I love my 40 x zoom camera

The military boats that we saw at the entrance to the Waterway for St Petersburg

Still in Russia so we see a gold Dome

Military and Coast Guard ships

Another cruise boat coming up behind us

Power plants off in the distance

Ships coming our way as seen through the telescope on the 11th deck observatory

The Sun is going down
