Alysen our Guardian Angel

The first day we stopped in at the reception area for the villas and we met Alysen, our saving grace. Fast forward 24 hours.  Our villa is oddly constructed. The half of the villa that contains the bed, bath  and the slidind doors that provide direct access the pool is air conditioned. The other half which contains a couch, a table and chairs, the mini bar and wine cooler is not air conditioned. One would think we could leave the doors between the two halfs open and the AC would cool both spaces. Here is where it is odd. The eves of the warm half are screened in and so the outside air flows freely into this space. No matter how cold we set the AC, it would never cool down both spaces. Worse yet if we left the doors open the bed area would get hot and humid. The day we arrived was sunny and the warm space was downright hot. I measured 86 degrees with full humidity. Three was no way for us to be able to use this space, either for happy hour or for sleeping. I was still coughing from the Doha dust and when you add my snoring,  sleeping in the same bed as Leslie would only assure two bad nights of sleep. I pulled the couch cushion into the cool area set up a bed on the floor. We got two bad nights of sleep anyway. Leslie came up with the idea that if we could drape towels over the screens,  then we could open the doors and let the AC cool the whole area down. After breakfast we met with Alysen and presented her with our problem and a solution. Not only was she sympathetic, she was ready to take action. She got the head of housekeeping on the phone, jumped in a buggy and met us up at the villa. Next thing, maintenance is there measuring and by midafternoon they are fixing it. They bought up 28 small wooden sections. Alex and his helper worked tirelessly.  They did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. The room cooled down almost immediately. Thanks to Alysen's willingness to take action we both slept great that evening. I got a total of 12 hours of sleep and feel really rested and so relaxed today.  Hip hip hooray, Alysen saves the day!

Alysen and Marie, always smiling!
