The Uluwatu temple up close

The temple is an active religious site so we were not allowed in. Hindi that visit traditionally wear white shirts and headgear. We looked from the edges and tried to be respectful. As we toured is was difficult, as the terrain was uneven and many others were walking the same path. Our guide seemed to be in his 70's but he was unstoppable. He would go up and down the path and weave through the crowd o fast that it was difficult at times for me to keep up without steamrolling over people.

A twisted tree and the end of the road for us

The original stone gate

Ganesh the remover of obstacles

This 10th century winged gate is rare in these parts

Looking back at the statue and all the flowers

An odd juxtaposition

A gathering of the faithful

A stone monkey

A gate to keep out folks who don't have a guide to tell them about t hgv e customs
