The specials were very special. We had already reviewed the menu prior to arrival and we thought perhaps we already knew what we were going to order. The only question we still had was what exactly were "queenies". However once we sat down and saw the specials we changed our minds. Leslie ordered the local lobster and I ordered the skate wing which was also local. A skate is a kind of stingray that I have never eaten before. So another animal goes on a carnivore list! It turns out that the Queenies are a special type of scallop found only in the Isle of Man Waters. They were cooked up with butter and bacon and served on top of a thick crusty toast. The Lobster was fantastic and the skate was superb. The skate was very buttery and the meat just came right off. It left a network of cartilage behind which I found most interesting. All the servers came to our table but Katy spent the most time with us. She was funny and kept us laughing. She was born on the Isle of Man, went to University and then came back. She said that the experience away made her appreciate what the Isle of Man has to offer.
