Our late lunch was enough to hold us till we got to Panorama 34. It is a bar and restaurant on the 34 th floor of a building right on the waters edge. We loved the views and were surprised to see the worlds largest cruise boat docked right below us. Some quick internet searches revealed that the Queen Mary II was due to depart within the hour. We each had a drink and some appetizers. Our waiter was named Dimitrios and he was from the Greek Isles. We had a very nice chat. He gave us some London pointers and great service. He even made a cute anniversary dish with chocolate bits. There was a variety of watercraft on the Mersey river. Some slow ferries, some fast ferries and the ferry over to the Isle of Man. We watched and waited for the departure but the scheduled time came and went. We could see thousands of spectators lining up and a band playing on the dockside. That's when we decided to head down and get a closer look. We only had to walk a short distance and we were among the parents, kids, dogs and grannies that came out to watch. Great timing on our part as the ropes were soon retracted and the fireworks went off. The pilot was really enjoying the blowing of the horn. It was loud and he blasted it for a full 30 seconds each time
