The singers were most impressive. They sang the entire time of over an hour. Different men would take turns initiate different choruses and the rest would sing along in rhythmic chants. They used thier voices as percussion instruments. They also were dancers and were a part of the story. First they bought in a shrine through the ceremonial gate and lit it on fire. Then each singer was blessed with water. Then the characters were introduced. The story precedes all as our synopsys laid out for us. It builds up to where the white monkey comes in. Yhe monkey provided comic relief, scratching himself in inappropriate places, grooming members of the crowd, and jumping into the crowd to scare little children. Great fun!
